"Enter the "Save a Watt"
ad. It's the one that pleads with Californians to use electricity as sparingly as possible to help with the current energy crisis. "We can all make it through this together," says the encouraging voiceover. Somehow something in that corny commercial got to me and I found myself filled with a sense of community and purpose. "Yes. We can make it through this together,"
I thought. So hand in hand with my fellow Californians, I vowed to do my part; whatever it took. And I began working out my strategy. But then, boom: directly after this ad, came one from Disney for its "Electricland Parade."

"He looks up in the sky and says my daddy's up in heaven and he's looking down on me," Lisset said of Anthony.
SPRING HILL - The words haunt Lisset Greene as she struggles to understand what happened to the man she loved."
A fragile man, an undying love
From: NewsTrove.com
"It was more than puppy love when 13-year-old Bryan Arnesen fell for 11-year-old Cindy Nastrucci in summer 1975.
It was a love that lasted through high school, a break-up and each marrying other people and having three kids.
About 25 years later, the pair found their way back to each other. They were married by a justice of the peace in 2002.
Arnesen, now 43, said his undying love for his wife made choosing his last wish a simple matter.
He wants to renew his wedding vows with Cindy, in a church with friends and family, before he loses his battle with a rare form of cancer known as soft-tissue synovial sarcoma."

However, McCullough never gave ground and he continued to charge and fire."
.: Albany Democrat-Herald :. News
From: NewsTrove.com
"In 1990, one of Jim Asleson's sisters called him with bad news: Their 78-year-old father had died. On Feb. 18, 2004, she called him in Albany again - this time with horrific news.
A sister and brother-in-law had been bludgeoned to death in their Sedona, Ariz., home by a young man hyped up on methamphetamine. His weapon was the couple's 19-pound ceramic mushroom doorstop.
Crimes related to the use and sale of methamphetamine are happening all over the United States, including the mid-valley. Here, civic and social groups and law enforcement agencies are struggling to combat this pervasive problem."
