For most UCLA students, finals week means pulling all-nighters in a last-minute attempt to learn 10 weeks' worth of material. For actor and third-year philosophy student Colin Bain, however, finals week last quarter consisted of 14-hour days on the set of crime drama "Cold Case."
Bain's eight-day shoot happened to fall on the same week as finals."

I don,t know about appeals but I also have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis and sound about the same, qua symptoms. when I made my claim for IS on the grounds of sickness I filled in my IB50 then took it to a rights worker to check and he told me I,d wafled on about irrelavant things so I got another form and got it filled in for me.
I was really embarresd when it was being filled in as I felt the rights worker was exagerating and I was telling her I couldn,t say that etc. She explained you had to say you couldd,t do some thing if couldn,t do it without pain or sever discomfort or exaustion or if you couldn,t do it repeatedly."

Fibromyalgia Blogs from LiveJournal
Interesting info to share...
From: www.livejournal.com
"I recently started seeing a Pain Management doctor for my FM and migraines etc. My rheumy wanted me to see a specific doc, but he wasnt available (typical, no?) and finally after 4 or 5 visits I actually saw him. Right off the bat, instead of focusing on the Fibromyalgia, he started asking me about my migraines- how do they start, what do they feel like, when did they start, etc. He started pressing on my neck and shoulders and immediately found all my "hot spots" as my husband calls them. You know what I'm talking about, that spot where when you touch it and you want to jump and scream and cry at the same time.
Anyway, he asked if I had ever had an MRI of my neck, which I hadn't. I asked why and he said that he thought there was "something going on in there" and wanted to explore it further. So, managed to get into the Stand-up MRI center a mile from my house (If you ever need to have an MRI and you have the option, opt for the stand-up. I took off my jewelry, glasses, and bra and thats it. Took 45 minutes and the hardest part was trying to read the closed captions on the TV without my glasses!)and when I went back for the results, much to my amazement, the doc tells me I have a severely herniated disc inbetween C5 & C6. No telling how long it's been there, I've never been rear ended or even in any kind of serious car accident (knock on wood). Never had any kind of neck injury that I know of. (Was in an abusive relationship for a couple years, figure that *might* have done it, but who knows?) To make a longer story short, I am having a cortisone injection in that disc this Thursday, 2/24.
So where are these stats? National Fibromyalgia Research Association Go to the 'Compare Symptoms' link on the left. I'm not at all familiar with Chiari Malformations, in fact this chart was the first time I had ever heard of it. But the cervical stenosis is what my doc said *could* be going on, causing the FM perhaps. A friend of mine had the same sudden discovery about her neck (unlike me she has never had obvious neck problems, pain or migraines)and had the disc removed and upon getting back into her own room at the hospital, she wanted to swing dance. It's now 6 weeks post-op and she has been off pain meds for 4 weeks. She no longer has any symptoms consistent with Fibro. How fantastic is that?
I know I am new to this board, and I hope I am not overstepping bounds, but I really want to share this information with everyone who has FM. I truly hope that if you have the slightest suspicion that this *might* be whats going on with you, that you print out the info on the NFRA website and ask your doc to help you, to help figure this disease out. Maybe, in some people, its not FM, its these other problems manifesting with FM-like symptoms.
I sincerely hope that this info might help just one of us... if not more.

Rheumatologists?
From: www.livejournal.com
"Sorry to post twice in one day, but many thanks to all who responded to my prior post; it's amazing what a little complaint to the right person can accomplish! I have finally gotten my referral to a rheumatologist, and an appointment for tomorrow morning!!
This brings me to another question I'd love your input on; what specifics should I ask my rheumatologist? Should I bring a symptoms list or a pain scale? I want to make sure I get the most out of this long overdue appointment."
Official complaints?
From: www.livejournal.com
"For those who've done battle with doctor's offices (specifically with Kaiser or other HMOs), how does one go about making an official complaint against someone?
To make the excessively long story short, a secretary at my primary care physician's office keeps telling me I can control fibro with diet and exercise and don't need to seek medical assistance. She's even hung up on mw when I've phoned the office in attempts to contact my doctor. What she's doing seems illegal--she's not a doctor or nurse, so should she shouldn't be dispensing medical advice or denying me access to my doctor!
How can I deal with this situation? Any advice is greatly appreicated; I'm at the end of my freakin' rope..."
