scarlet face
From: www.livejournal.com

"I'm asking a question for my mother. Background info: she's 62, has chronic pain and fatigue, arthritis and severe degeneration of her knees. (Not diagnosed with FMS, but she has many symptoms similar to mine.) She uses a cane or walker to get around, but has knees that dislocate easily and frequently. It's hard for her to walk but she is very determined and a few times a week goes for walks with a cane on one side and my father on the other as her support. They've walked a lot for years, so her overall fitness is fairly decent.

The other day she had a weird thing happen during a walk. She suddenly felt very nauseated and had to stop and lean on a fence. My dad noticed that her entire face was bright scarlet. This has never happened to her before. The nausea is not so weird, could've been any number of things, but the scarlet face really scared her and my dad. Do you have any idea what that could've been?

The only change to her usual routine is that she recently started taking St Johns Wort because she's been quite down since losing her ability to walk independently last year. Her Rxs are Arthrotec (diclofenac + misoprostol) and thyroid extract. She takes OTC acetaminophen. Her other supplements are ginkgo biloba, acidophilus, salmon oil, potassium, glucosamine, chondroitin and a multivitamin. I've tried to research possible interactions, but can't determine if the St Johns Wort is okay for her to be taking. (Or even if the other supplements and drugs are okay together.) Does anyone have any ideas about the drug interactions and/or the scarlet face? I wonder if they are related."
