Can you first of all tell us the title of the book and when the new edition will be out?” Dian Mills: “Yes, the new edition was out in America on the 1st of August 2002."

Fibromyalgia Blogs from LiveJournal

From: www.livejournal.com

"Hey guys. I haven't posted in like, 8 bajillion years here, because I hadn't been having any flare-ups! Yeah, but now I'm back to sucky life, but that's okay. Which actually brings up one of my questions; I went up to Alaska over the Christmas holidays, and I was there for a good long while, and I seemed to go into some sort of remission--I only had about two flare-ups over a twenty day period. Then I went back to Georgia, and I got slammed with it again. I know barometric pressure has a lot to do with it.. But that much? I'm not sure why exactly that happened. Any thoughts?

Also; I read a few entries back with the whole debate over the colours for FM--was anything decided? A bracelet would be awesome. (Whoever had the idea for the barbed-wire was a genious.)

And do we have a colourbar? Because.. we should. Seeing as how I'm too lazy to figure it out, is anyone else adequately equipped with fancy computer smarts to make one? This whole lack of awareness is really agitating me. I rarely talk about what I have because very, very few people seem to have ever heard of Fibromyalgia, and those who have usually have some stupid skewed opinion on it."

Keeping Fingers Crossed
From: www.livejournal.com

"I have found a Pain Management Program that specializes in Fibromyalgia. It's local and with a luck (it is St. Paddy's day, after all), my insurance will cover it. It's a comprehensive, team approach that includes generalized pain management, physical therapies, biofeedback, acupuncture, Reiki (never heard of it), Raindrop Therapy (never heard of that, either), Trigger Point Injections and weekly patient evaluation conferences.

I spoke with the Intake Nurse who has FMS and was both sympathetic and supportive of the run around I've had with my doctors. My last pain management doctor claims that FMS doesn't exist, that it's a "trashcan diagnosis for a doctor who can't figure out what's wrong with you." Meanwhile, in the past year, besides daily back pain, I've been diagnosed with migraines, IBS, and Raynauds.

The Intake Nurse was quite surprised that no one has prescribed me an antidepressant and that would be something they would do right away for the neural processing of my brain. I'm not exactly clear on what she meant so I plan on doing some research. She recommended a book by Dr. Jay Goldstein.

I would love if anyone could share their experience with antidepressants, i.e. the good, the bad and the ugly.

Many thanks."

How?
From: www.livejournal.com

"How do you cope?

With the foggy head, the pain and aches, the tiredness?

I have been having serious problems since I started working full time regular hours again (since September). I can't seem to find a way to regulate my body onto a 8-5/M-F schedule. I've tried lots of things, but I'm still hoping to find the thing that works.

I've tried: (most of these I'm still doing FWIW)

vitamin suppliments
regulating sleep
hot baths (that was disastrous)
pain meds
heating pads
light exercise
no late night events (concerts, clubs)
eating better

I'm not sure what else I can try. Pretty much all I do is go to work, come home to eat and sleep, and then leave again. I've eliminated almost everything else because of pain. This is very frustrating, as I need to keep my job, and I'm tired of being in pain almost all of the time.
