The Brain Game
From: NewsTrove.com

"Pain management researchers and manual therapists have suspected for some time that some portion of chronic back pain represents ongoing dysfunction in the brain and nervous system rather than any local spinal injury. To buttress their case, they point to the fact that it is difficult to identify and verify a specific - obvious - local pain generator in most chronic neck and low back pain cases. A recent study from the University of Pittsburgh suggests that the brain can indeed generate pain in the absence of any local nociceptive input. Stuart W. Derbyshire, PhD, and colleagues hypnotized eight experimental volunteers (1)."

"*ahem*

Size has nothing to do with fibromyalgia. There are skinny people, there are slender people, athletic, curvy, and even downright fat. Many different sizes fit under the fibro heading.

I'm sure exercise such as walking daily does help but it does so in more than one way. It helps with the activity, perhaps the scenery, the fresh air, the time you're spending on yourself... the list goes on and on.

No doctor has ever told me my fibro was from my weight and I'm way overweight.

Huh, I think my train of thought got derailed but I think I got my point across."

About Topamax....
From: www.livejournal.com

"It's been a while since I've posted, but I do try to read the entries that are made by others quite often.

I have a ?

I was given a prescription for Topamax today from GNP for my migraines.

Does anyone have anything to say concerning this drug? I have read about Topamax at rxlist.com and webmd.com

The side effects sound scary as hell and I would like to know if anyone else is taking this drug and have suffered not too fun side effects.

The one side effect that I look forward to is the weight loss.

If you are taking this drug, do you recommend it to someone who is debating taking it? I was thinking about taking it the 3 months the prescription is written for and then seeing how I felt at the end of that time.

Thanks,
Christie = : )"
